What I know for sure is that spirit doesn’t want to scare you. They are looking for ways to get our attention. If you are someone who had intuitive gifts as a child, then you know that somewhere along the line you most likely told them to go away or stopped communicating all together.
I had a client who brought her daughter to see me. Mary Kate was 5 and she talked all day long about her “friends”, Thomas and Rebecca. They would visit at night and Mary Kate’s parents would wake up to hear her whispering and talking in her bedroom. And, when they went to check on her, they could see her having an animated conversation without anyone else in the room. I asked Mary Kate if her “friends” came to visit often, and she replied, “Oh, Yes. We have tea and play every night after Mommy and Daddy are sleeping.”
As Mary Kate got older, she stopped communicating with her “friends” and in her early 20s, she began to pick up on spirit once again.
We are most receptive at night which is why spirits visit then.
Typically, we are more relaxed during the evening hours. When we are asleep, all the daily momentum stops, and our to-do lists are at rest until morning. In the sleep state, we are open, receptive, and our minds aren’t getting in the way.
So much can occur during our sleep state. We may astral travel, vising distant lands or even our childhood home, or, we may hang out with our spirit guides, learning and exploring more of our soul’s journey while in this life. Our dreams can offer another way for spirit to communicate with us. We may wake up with just the answer that previously eluded us, or with a sense that all is well and that we are divinely guided and loved from the heavenly realms.
Reasons spirit may be visiting at night:
If Spirit visiting at night is bothering you, like it does for most of us, you can set boundaries and even business hours with spirit. You can tell them when you’re willing to connect, how they can connect with you, and who you’re willing to connect with.
You are in the driver’s seat with your energy and your home so don’t feel bad about setting boundaries and ground rules for spirit to engage with you. It’s like that person who stays long after the party is over. At some point you will let them know it's time to go home.
What are some ways to ensure a peaceful, spirit-free night?
If all else fails, reach out to a medium or energy worker who can help you with the energy in your home. Spirit will continue to try to get your attention so if you need a little support, make sure you reach out. Spirit will thank you and your home will be your sacred space for rest and rejuvenation.
Another way to think of spirit, is that they are just people without bodies. They cannot bring any harm to you or your family and they are not more powerful than you are. Spirit communication is a beautiful gift and capacity and, with your focused intention, you can develop your connection with the spirit world in a way that works best for you.

About a month ago I added a day to my gym workouts (I decided I’m wearing, and rocking, the bikini I’ve been shying away from that hangs in my closet). I started out strong, I was doing everything I needed do; enjoying my workouts, drinking my water and stretching. I woke up on my additional gym day and was so sore I could hardly get down the stairs. I put on my gym clothes and as I was making a snack, I started to think thoughts like - what will my trainer think? I’m not keeping up my end of the bargain and what if I can’t rock the bikini? Took me a few minutes to clear all the crazy coming up and then I asked my body if she wanted to have an extra gym day each week and it was NO. I laughed at myself and then asked my body how many days she wanted and setup my schedule to match.
I then called my trainer and he kept trying to guilt me into going, reminded me of my bikini plans, so I thanked him, and I instantly felt a weight released and instead of lifting at the gym, I went for a nice long walk, had an Epsom salt bath and did some stretching. The old me would have been at the gym no matter what, not wanting to upset anyone or impact their day, so as soon as I hung up the phone, I acknowledged choosing me and what works for me, and my body.
3 Steps to Choose You
1. Check in with you. Is this really your idea or plan? Often, we align with the people around us and end up agreeing to things we would rather not. We try to keep the peace or not rock the boat all the while feeling miserable that we didn’t speak up.
Take some time and think about these questions:
How would you like to live your life?
Would you like to be healthy and vital? Write it down.
Would you like to have more fun with your family and feel the love? Write it down.
Pick one thing and start to look at ways you can implement that into your life.
Ask: “What would it take to have more _____________ in my life?” Keep asking until you get an awareness or action steps.
2. Notice how you are telling the story. My guides remind me to be mindful of how I tell the story, because I’ll get to be right. I've proven them right on more than one occasion.
Be mindful of your thoughts and spoken words. It only takes repeating something 3 times for it to become part of your energy field.
About a year ago, I caught myself saying, “I’m so tired”. In one day I said it 9 times! No wonder I didn’t have the juice to get through my day, I was telling myself to be tired. I started to reframe what I was saying to, “I have more and more energy everyday.” And, after about 2 weeks, it completely shifted for me.
I invite you to start noticing the stories, words and thoughts you are choosing. Just a willingness to be aware of them, will start to show you any patterns or limitations so you can change them.
3. Be willing to be assertive and speak your truth. Growing up, I was always told to be a “good girl” and it wasn’t until years later that I realized I was being praised for not having a voice, not speaking up. I’ll admit, when I first started to speak my truth, it felt weird, really weird, but the more I practiced, the easier it got. And, now if I don’t speak my truth, I will feel my energy constrict and I do not dim my light for anyone.
Notice when you feel the urge to spit something out – this is your higher self giving you the nudge to speak up. Your words don’t have to be unkind, they just need to be voiced in a way that works for you.
I remember the first year I told my Mom that we weren’t going over for Christmas dinner, and instead were going skiing that day. The guilt and shame she sprinkled on me could have decorated a whole tree! But, I stood my ground and we had the best day ever at the ski hill and we spent time with my family in a way that worked for us. I was willing to disappoint and assert myself to make sure I was following my truth.
When we make the choice to live a life we love, it can make other people uncomfortable. They are used to you filling your role and are not sure about the new you and you offer them a space to choose them and this can make people really uncomfortable. No matter what, find what makes your heart sing and shine bright!
The first time I heard Katy Perry's song, Roar, I turned up the volume and went home to download the song immediately. Not only were the lyrics catchy, it soon became an anthem that gave permission to speak up, celebrate who we are, come out of the shadows, reminding us that we all have a choice in every aspect of our lives. Soon, everyone in my community from social media, clients, friends and family were all buzzing whenever the song came on and it seemed to be hitting the airwaves everywhere. One afternoon, while listening to the song in the car, I asked my daughter, who was 9 at the time, why she liked the song so much and her reply was, “It makes me feel strong, like I can do anything”.
What a powerful message for young women, women from broken homes, girls who felt not good enough, women who were battered and worn down. What if we could change the way women feel about themselves and their contributions to this world? What if we could uplift one another instead of competing? How would our world shift and change if all women believed they were strong and could do anything?

HOW DISEMPOWERMENT SHOWS UP
• Feeling helpless and overlooked; assuming everyone around you knows better. Taking on someone else’s idea of how we should behave and interact with the world
• Keeping our insights to ourselves and not realizing that our contributions are just as, if not more, valuable than those around us

Making the choice to examine our beliefs, values and what we know is true for us, is the first step to self-empowerment. Unexpected phone calls to uplift us, connections with people who “get” us and what we are striving for, the right book or message at just the right time to keep us focused on our path. We will begin to uncover and unlock a reservoir of inner power and self-esteem.
A powerful journey begins to unfold that unleashes who we really are, defining our very core at the deepest levels, bringing clarity and a sense of inner knowing like nothing else can. Practicing self-love is an integral part of your intuition. When you feel good about yourself, approve of who you are and the choices you are making, your intuitive channels are clear. You can easily hear the whispers of your soul, moving you in the direction toward your heart’s desires. On the other side, if you don’t approve of yourself, your ego (or Critter Mind as I like to call it) will start to chirp and add to your story, reminding you of all your past mistakes and shortcomings.
I grew up in a house where both my parents would say, “What’s wrong with you?” anytime my sisters or I made a mistake. I learned that making mistakes was not a good thing and began to disconnect from my intuition and the world around me. Disapproving of myself became my self-talk and my self-assurance began to fade. It was like being stuck in a cage of my own making. And, trust me, you don’t want that!
Self-assurance and self-love involve making a choice to value and approve of yourself, your choices and your life - no matter what. From my experiences growing up, I began to focus more on my perceived weaknesses rather than my own strengths. I had a belief that I needed to be perfect to be loved and accepted and nothing could be further from the truth. No one is perfect and once I removed that block, I began to focus on what was going right in my world and was able to reframe the stories in my mind to support my self-acceptance, love and happiness.
When you learn to celebrate who you are and the life you’re living, you realize that you don’t have to prove yourself to anyone or defend your choices. You know that when things don’t go according to play, there is always something to learn and you get to choose again. Your intuition is quick to show you the fastest way to make your dreams a reality, show you how to forgive yourself and others and most importantly, laugh at yourself!
By loving and approving of YOU, you are fully awake and fully connected to the world around you in a way that lights you up. And, when you make the choice to focus on your strengths, your intuition will guide you every time.
3 Steps for More Self-Love
Self-assurance involves celebrating your strengths and achievements. I invite you to make a LONG list of all the things you’ve ever done that make you proud. Every win, every wonderful thing you can thing of. How you showed up when you wanted to quit, how you make sure your kids, family or friends always have a shoulder to lean on. How do you make people feel? Do you like to make sure everyone feels included? Are you great at managing your money or time? Pay close attention to the last 2 years and really notice all the amazing strengths you have and all of the wonderful things you’ve accomplished, no matter how small! Read this list for the next 3 weeks and continue to celebrate YOU!
Take Charge of Your Mind!
I invite you to become a witness of your thoughts. Learn to just acknowledge them without judgement. You may notice you say certain things over and over all day and this is creating your reality. When you catch yourself saying, or thinking, something negative, reframe it into something you want to be true for you. Our minds cannot tell between a thought that is real and one that is not. So, I encourage you to only think and speak words and ideas that you would like to have in your world. A few years ago, I caught myself saying, “I’m so tired” and realized I repeated this to myself countless times a day. And, guess what? I was tired! So, I began to reframe with, “I’m feeling more and more energized every day.” And, pretty soon, that became my new reality.
Find ways to fill your mind with goodness – prayer, reading inspirational books or messages, uplifting music, have a dialog with the universe through Oracle Cards, mantras and any way that directs your thoughts in a powerful way.
This is my go-to for stopping the critter mind and strengthening your intuition. If your mind is really busy, you can start with guided mediations to begin and then move onto relaxing music and even breath work. When we focus on our breath, our body and mind instantly begin to relax so a wonderful practice is to breathe in for the count of 8, hold for the count of 8, and release for the count of 8. Giving yourself even 5 minutes a day to slow down your mind and invite your intuition in, will have a profound impact on your self-assurance!

Sometimes it can seem like we aren't making any progress or seeing our heart's desires come to life. Now is a time to look at things with a different perspective. As my guides remind me - "Be mindful of how you tell the story, because you'll get to be right." I would find myself hanging onto an old story and in doing so, would prevent the universe from gifting me with the energies, resources or anything else that might assist my journey.
It's okay to set something aside until more information is ready. When I find myself at a crossroads, where nothing seems to be working, I'll give myself permission to leave it for a while and I'll ask my angels and guides to show me a new possibility. Just like watching a cake bake, our impatience (ego) won't make it bake faster! The same goes for our dreams and soul growth. Give yourself time to regroup.
I love the energy of this card! By slowing down and taking notice of how things ARE working out for you, you will align with more synchronicities and good fortune. By staying focused on what is working - seeing it done, feeling into the energy of it complete, trusting that your prayers will be answered, the universe can quickly move in and bring you that special person, that new opportunity or a new insight to fill your heart with love. Remember, you are co-creating with life and when you align with universal energies through gratitude, you will witness more and more magic. Your angels and guides are just waiting to shower you with love, possibilities and all things joyful!
From the Wisdom of the Oracle Deck - one of my favourite decks!
Question: I recently had to put my beloved dog down. She was very sick, and her health was deteriorating daily. Is she on the other side? Does she know I miss her? Is she doing okay now? Will I see her again?
Answer: I believe animals do have souls and are very eager to communicate with us once they cross over. In fact, for every beloved pet that I have channeled, they express gratitude to their humans for loving them and caring for them, and sometimes, for letting them go.
In one reading, my client recently loss her horse and was missing him terribly. I’ll never forget seeing this majestic, black horse appear beside my client. He was nibbling on the collar of her jacket and tapping his left foot. When I relayed this to her, she cried knowing he was with her and that he was okay on the other side. She found him one morning on the ground in the barn and was terribly sad that she didn’t get to say goodbye. He just kept nibbling on her jacket until finally she laughed, and it was like a huge weight had been lifted. Before he went back to the other side, he said it was time for her to get a new horse.
I see the beloved pets at their most happy time in life. They show themselves to me running and playing and being silly. I’ve communicated with dogs, cats, birds and even an iguana named Lizzie. I’ve seen poodles wearing sweaters and pugs chasing birds. I once channelled a lovebird with the sweetest song. There was even a Doberman Pinscher who was one of the most serious spirits I’ve communicated with to this day.
When my beloved little dog Jessie crossed over, I felt such a heaviness in my heart. On his last day, he lost the use of his back legs. A few weeks after he passed, I was standing at the kitchen sink when I caught this flash in the backyard and looked to see him running and running and running. My heart was overflowing with love for my sweetheart and it gave me such comfort, even as a medium, to know he was okay.
The animals who come through bring their personality along with their loyalty and love for their humans. And, they most want us to be happy as well, to honour the time we had with them and remember them as happy and healthy and always with us.
The love from our pets lives on and I know they are always with us.

Do you ever experience something and immediately think of your loved one? Maybe you smell lilacs or old spice cologne. Perhaps you wake up and you can still feel your loved one in the room with you? Or, you hear their favorite song on the radio and your heart fills with love and memories of time you spent with your loved one? These are all signs and gifts that your loved one is sending you.
Here are 7 signs that your loved ones may be sending you…
Have you ever found a feather in your home or space and it just seemed to appear out of nowhere? I remember going for a hike and when I got back to the car, finding the most beautiful white feather sitting on my seat. Feathers are a beautiful reminder that your loved one is near. You can even ask your loved ones to leave feathers for you and then when they do, and they will, feel the connection with them.
My grandfather will leave dimes for me to find and I so enjoy this gift! I’ll find them on the floor, in my car, on the sidewalk, again, seemingly out of nowhere. One day I found 7! I laughed and looked up to the heavens to thank him each and every time. When I find dimes, I know it is my grandfather’s way of reminding me of my value and to focus on what makes me happy.
When I was just starting to give professional readings, I would smell cigarette smoke in the strangest places. I could be in a coffee shop where there was no smoking allowed, and I would catch a whiff. Once, when I was home alone, I thought for sure someone was smoking! While on a walk, I smelled cigarette smoke and a picture flashed in my mind of an older couple. After digging through old family albums, I found the picture I saw in my mind and it was my grandfather, who was smoking in the picture. Loved ones can communicate with cigarette smoke, the smell of fresh baking, perfume or even flowers.
Butterflies, dragonflies or hummingbirds
I’ve had the pleasure of reading for clients who eagerly share with me how their loved ones bring insects and birds into their experience. One client would see hummingbirds at her kitchen window each morning. She lived on an acreage for many years and after her mom crossed over, they became a daily occurrence. She and her mom would have tea and visit each week and she believes in her heart that they still do!
Soon after my client’s father passed away, she began to hear the father and daughter song from her wedding. She heard the song while shopping for groceries, when she was driving in the car, and, she even overheard a man singing the song while filling her car with gas. Each time she heard the song, it brought her back to that day and that special time with her father. What a beautiful gift.
When we are asleep, our conscious mind is at rest and it’s much easier for our loved ones to communicate with us. You can even ask your loved ones to visit you in your dreams and with repetition, you will begin to remember your visits or any messages they bring to you. After our little dog Jessie passed, I can remember waking in the middle night and it felt like he was lying right beside me.
Orbs in Photos
If you happen to see orbs in pictures, this is a sure sign that loved ones are with you. After my daughter’s fifth birthday, I was looking through the photos and it looked like a snow storm of white, orbs floating around the girls at the party. I encourage you to take a look at your pictures and see where your loved ones have joined the photo fun.

This seems to be a big area of change for a lot of people recently. When we take a close look at the people in our world, are we willing to see them for who they are? Are we willing to see those who are rooting for our success and those who are inviting us into drama/trauma?
If you’d had readings with me, you’ve probably heard me say, “Show it to me so I don’t miss it,” to my guides and angels. They really stepped up their game this week! I had not one Bucket Driller, but two.
How did this happen?
How did I miss the signs?
I did some digging and found that I am a Bucket Filler through and through, I am rooting for your success and then some. I also found that it’s very important for me to surround myself with other Bucket Fillers.
The catch is, that I knew they were both Bucket Drillers and I chose to stay in contact with them. It really was just a matter of time before things had to change. In creating and having my best life, I have also made the demand to only have people in my world who will root for my success, just as I would for them. People who are honest and will speak from their heart, not gossip about me or wear a passive/aggressive crown with me. I’m learning that what people say and what they do are different and that the energy never lies.
I really looked at the one relationship and it became clear that we were on different pages completely.
If I didn’t see things her way, I was wrong. If I shared something she wouldn’t choose, I was wrong. I left feeling like my energy was leaking and then I realized she was a Bucket Driller – she would poke holes in my bucket as a way of making herself right.
I encourage you to fill your bucket and take inventory of anyone, or anything, that could be a bucket driller.

January 31st 2018 Blue Moon, Super Moon, & Total Lunar Eclipse
One of the most powerful moons energetically in all of 2018 shines upon us on January 31st. We will encounter a rare and glorious cosmic adventure: a Blue moon, Super moon, and total Lunar Eclipse, a rare event for all to occur at once!
A Blue Moon is an additional Full Moon occurring in a single month or season when there has already been one Full Moon. It is not blue or a different color, it is just the name given the “extra” moon of this time.
A Super Moon is either a Full Moon or a New Moon appearing larger because of the distance it is on its orbit in relation to the earth. A Super Moon is a new or Full moon which occurs with the moon at or near (within 90% of) its closest approach to earth in a given orbit (perigee). Basically, earth, moon and sun are all in a line, with moon in its nearest approach to earth.
Have you been feeling ready to cleanse or purge since before the holiday season? It could be due to the energy of the eclipse since many people intuitively are tuning in to this potent energy for up to 90 days’ prior. For some, this enhanced energy can feel wonky to the nervous system; if so, you can transmute it into creative power.
Lunar eclipses occur only during a Full Moon when the moon passes behind the earth into the earth’s shadow and the moon, sun, and earth are completely aligned. During a lunar eclipse, Earth’s shadow blocks the sun’s light, which otherwise reflects off the moon. A Lunar eclipse can last for hours whereas a solar eclipse is usually completed within moments.
There are three types of eclipses, total, partial and penumbral — with the most dramatic being a total lunar eclipse, in which Earth’s shadow completely covers the moon.

A total eclipse is believed to energetically have an effect on us anywhere from the next 6 months up to a full year. The type of impact you receive is determined by your personal sign in your astrology chart.

Do you ever feel like you’re banging your head against the wall?
I know I sure do at times!
In a class I recently attended, I asked how to move beyond this. How to create the way I’d like to. The answer kind of rocked my world. There are a few parts to it…
You see, when we choose something in our lives, we are choosing more, less than or the same.
Ultimately, when we choose something, we will begin to do what is required to make it happen or we choose to escape. In choosing to escape, we can come up all sorts of justifications, that aren’t even real, as to why we can’t have something, like not having the money, or the time or the resources.
The instructor then shared with me, “We are the only ones who can work against us.”
Shit. Mind blown.
Hence, banging our heads against the wall. When we pick something that is not actually in alignment with what we really, really want, we can drive ourselves nuts trying to make it work. Instead, we can stop and ask the Universe for directions and be willing to change course completely or make slight adjustments along the way.
When we are willing to ask for more, we can create more. And, not asking from a place of what we think might be good for us, but really getting clear on what does work for us and what we would really like to have and choosing from this place.
He added, “Once we learn to deal with the Universe in a creative, expansive way, we will see more possibilities and will choose what works for us, always creating more.”
I used to think if I had all my ducks in a row, took another class, had more experience, THEN I could choose something, when in fact, the Universe works the opposite…
When we CHOOSE something, even if we have no idea how it will work out, the Universe gets busy showing us the way, providing the next steps and helping us move toward making our choices a reality.
The Universe not only has our back, the Universe sees us the way we see ourselves. Do you see yourself as magical? Do you see yourself as the creator and source of your happiness, joy and abundance?

Do you ever have days where your energy just feels sluggish, like you’re sinking in quicksand, and before you know it your entire world feels “stuck”… for no apparent reason? It’s like no amount of coffee can kick-start your awesomeness?
When this happened to me, I used to think it was Mercury Retrograde, that time of the month, planetary alignments or a myriad of other things where everything just went sideways leaving me feeling overwhelmed, discouraged and not wanting to go outside.
Often, I would envision crawling back into bed, for an undetermined amount of time, and not leaving until the storm passed by!
But, life doesn’t stop, kids need you, your business needs you and countless other things that demand your attention and time need you.
When I feel stuck energetically it’s often the result of:
• Something I haven’t acknowledged
• Family drama
• Allowing myself to be distracted or pulled off course
• Beating myself up for forgetting something or messing up
• Hidden Resentments
• Energetically entangled (when people energetically, often unknowingly, hook into our energy and on some level we are allowing them to)
And most, if not all, of these choices we make are unconscious.
Let’s take energetic entanglement as an example…
You meet a friend for lunch and she’s going through a painful divorce. At the end of your time together, you feel drained, angry or frustrated, perfectly mirroring her energy. Chances are your friend has ‘hooked’ into your energy. Or, you may work in a busy office dealing with countless people, phone calls and clients each day. The same energetic entanglement can happen there.
I know for myself, running my own business, volunteering at my daughter's school and working with clients each week, there can be a great deal of energy floating around in my world.
Just to be clear, this energy isn’t coming from a bad place and there isn’t anyone trying to put a hex or spell on you… although some people CAN send toxic energy your way.
(Someone popped into your mind didn’t they?!)
In order to clear away all the energies that are not yours, that do not add value to your world, and come back to who you really are, it’s important to cleanse your energy daily. You may even feel guided to do this cleansing at different times throughout your day if things are more intense for you.
The following is a prayer that is going to clear your energy, ensuring that only your frequency is around you and will bring back your clarity to focus on what lights you up and help you make a conscious choice to not take on energies that are not yours.
Understand that we pick up so many thoughts, feelings and emotions that do not belong to us and I want to reassure you that you are not alone, we all pick up on the people and different energies around us. Utilizing this easy technique, you will feel the energy shift and start to discern each thought, feeling and emotion that doesn’t belong to you.
This technique is a must-do for me and I invite you to try it for yourself.
Repeat the following silently or out loud:
Dear Source (Universe, Creator, God)…
I ask that every thought, feeling, resentment, attachment, judgement, conclusion and anything else I haven’t mentioned that is not mine, that is not 100% Divine in nature, be cleared and released from my energy in all ways, spaces, time and realities with ease and grace.
Please fill every cell, molecule and space in between with your divine light and love. As I breathe in this light and love, I begin to emit this energy to the world around me. I choose to no longer engage in any attachment that does not bring me into my highest potential of consciousness and possibilities. My energy now glows at the highest vibration of love, gratitude and abundance.
Thank you, it is done, Amen.
This is an amazing tool to use as soon as you can’t really get a handle on why your sense of flow and accomplishment has diminished. With practice you'll get to a place where you'll instantly know if something isn't yours and you'll be able to energetically - kick it out - and get on with your amazing life.

It’s time for renewal and realignment!
This Full Moon in Scorpio is a wonderful time to transform from within. You’ll know when Scorpio’s influence is at play in your world – some of your ideas or thoughts may seem off-the-wall, you could feel highly emotional (perhaps even irritable), and vivid dreams that seem so real you could touch them. Are you feeling it? Even animals and children can feel the different energies. I know our cat Midnight can as he’s been running around the house non-stop for days!
This Scorpio Full Moon brings with it so many gifts. Anything that is buried beneath the surface will start to appear, giving you the opportunity to take an honest look at what’s working in your world and what needs to change. Scorpio gently nudges us to look at any areas where we may be hiding our greatness or vulnerability, serving others in a way that isn’t supporting who we are or relationship beliefs that no longer serve us.
Tips to maneuver this Full Moon in Scorpio
1. Give your body any additional support it requires from extra rest, to more water or protein. Listen to your body as you shift and change during this time. Sometimes our bodies can have a hard time keeping up to all of the energy and it’s important to slow down from time to time.
2. Stay grounded. Imagine roots traveling from the bottom of your feet into the heart of mother earth, strengthening your connection to her and allowing her to nurture you.
3. Give yourself time to journal, dream or reflect on what’s showing up for you. An amazing tool I have to share – whenever you get stuck, and we all do, is ask:
What am I not being in allowance of with this?
This question will help to bring up any residue or anything you may have kept in the outer reaches of your mind. Sometimes we receive guidance immediately and other times it takes a bit longer for the information to download. Keep asking and know that when you are truly ready to choose a new way of being, the Universe will always meet you halfway.
Trust the process and give yourself time to adjust or let go of anything keeping you in the same out-dated patterns and cycles so you can move on with your life and be the truly amazing light worker you are here to be!
Spirit or Ego? How to Know Which is Speaking to You
You’ve made a choice to have something show up in your world and now that thing [house / yoga retreat / vacation / investment opportunity] shows up, just like magic. It’s like you waved a magic wand and here it is.
Your mind starts to go over the financial or time commitments, that are just outside your comfort zone, and you start to re-think your choice.
You feel like you were SO sure, and now you’re not so sure.
Or how about something like this?
When your admin assistant showed up, they were perfect for your business. Fast forward a few months and not so much. Your initial response is to let them go but then you start to think about the aftermath of their departure. Hiring and training someone new, unfinished projects, lost revenue…
After much deliberation, and some sleepless nights, you were SO SURE about letting them go… and then your mind popped in with the numbers and the starting over scenarios and now you’re wondering if you can hold off a bit longer or maybe they’ll change.
You make a decision and demand that it be so – BAM! Your next step immediately shows up.
Call this person, Implement XYZ, Change service providers…
Then, an interesting thing starts to happen, you feel uncomfortable at the idea of picking up the phone or making the changes that will get you from point A to point B… that support what you were asking for. You were SO clear before, and now…
Well, maybe it’s not what you really want, anyway. Maybe now isn’t the right time. Maybe all those reasons why you can’t jump out of your comfort zone start to pop up.
Call it a gut feeling, intuition or guidance from Spirit… we are all being guided in the direction of our highest expression and meaningful creations.
Your True Essence longs for expansion, joy, purpose and meaning. Your True Essence works alongside Spirit (the universe and your angels and other heavenly helpers) to guide you in the direction of your heart’s desire.
And, when our awareness, intuition, true essence or soul speak to us, we know it’s coming from our heart, we know it’s ON and it’s true for us.
The tricky part is… we are also being guided in other directions. You have an ego and a subconscious mind, both of which have vested interests in keeping you right where you are. You see, your brain’s job is to make sure you survive, not leap out of your comfort zone and chase after your dreams. No, its job is to keep you right where you are and that’s when the reasons, or excuses and distractions, come into play.
It can feel like we are being bombarded with decisions to be made every day and understanding which voice is which (spirit or ego) is a vital skill for anyone who desires to enhance their growth, creative power and overall happiness.
Is it the voice of Spirit, or is it Ego? How can you know which one is speaking to you?
I’ll let you in on a little, or not so little, secret that is most important, which is…
We all have an intuition, inner knowing or awareness. Each one of us. It’s real and it’s always communicating with us.
Somewhere in your energy field, either consciously or unconsciously, you know what is true for you. All the time.
What happens is, on some level, we choose to block our awareness… not listen to or act on our inner knowing.
Common reasons why we block our awareness…
The good news is that un-blocking your awareness is also a choice.
If you allow your awareness to just know, then you don’t have to play with doubting, second guessing, or NOT knowing.
If you always just know, and you know without any doubt that you know, then all you have to “do” is choose to hear your inner knowing… and then act on it. That’s right, choose to hear your awareness, your inner knowing.
So, how do you do that?
1. Slow down the “critter mind.”
By far, meditation is the best way to s l o w down the “critter mind”, allowing you to access your awareness and universal energies with ease. The amazing benefits of meditation are well-documented and by meditating, we enter into a different brain wave and this is the direct link to our intuition, our inner knowing.
I hear it time and time again… I HATE meditating and I don’t have time to meditate.
Luckily, there are LOTS of ways that you can practice slowing down the critter mind. Everyone’s brain responds differently to different mindfulness practices and I encourage you to find what works best for you.
Some enjoy breath work or music, while exercise and moving meditation work for others. You could even try guided meditations, adult coloring books or even mundane tasks like ironing or washing dishes.
Focused breathing will quiet our mind and bring our awareness back to our heart space – where our intuition lives and where our angels and guides communicate with us. Simply breathe in for the count of 5, hold for the count of 5 and release for the count of 5. Continue doing this until you feel a shift in your energy.
And, EVERYONE has 5 minutes to invest in themselves.
While sitting in traffic you could be doing breath work, setting your alarm to get up earlier before the kids wake up, in the shower… you get the idea. When you choose to learn how to quiet your critter mind, you will find ways to best support you.
2. Empty Vessel.
Next, after we have slowed down the mind, we are going to empty the mind. This is done by releasing all thoughts, worries, concerns or anything else that is not serving you.
Here is a short visualization to get you started…
Close your eyes and continue to breathe deeply and imagine yourself surrounded by beautiful while light. Now, as you breathe in, imagine breathing in this white light, allowing it to fill your entire body from the top of your head to the tips of your toes and fingers. As you breathe out, imagine breathing out everything that is not serving you, letting go of all stress, worry and fear. If you have had a day filled with unease, you may need to sit a little longer to get to a place where you feel expansive. Continue to breathe in this white light and when you feel that you have let go of your day, or whatever comes up for you, then imagine this white light, which is you, expanding out from your body, and see it expanding farther and father, encompassing the world, the universe, and beyond.
When we create an empty vessel, we create a magical playground to access our highest knowing, to play with our angels and guides and become very clear on what our heart’s desires are.
3. Stay in Question.
When we stay in question, we stay in constant communication with the universe, with our awareness, with our angels. It’s like keeping a door open for divine guidance and inner knowing to continuously flow through.

What would it take to add $5,000 to my business this month?
What would it take for my new car to show up?
What would it take to attract a fun, engaging, loving partner?
What would it take for [XYZ] to show up in my life?
What would it take for this project to be filled with ease and fun?
All of your questions are answered, perhaps immediately and sometimes it takes a little bit of time for your awareness to receive the action steps or the knowing.
When you ask for guidance, you’ll receive guidance. Notice how it shows up: did the universe move someone into your world, did it show up when you were painting, was it a feeling you had?
Your whole life can change by asking questions. Jack Canfield and Marc Victor Hansen discovered the title for their Chicken Soup for the Soul series, simply by asking for “a mega-bestselling title.” And, the rest is history.
Ask and it is given. Every time.
4. What is your body telling you?
Have you ever chosen to do something but it didn't really “feel good” in your body? Our body sends us messages all day and when we learn to really pay attention to these messages, this can be a game changer in our world.
Imagine you meet someone for the first time and you instantly get a discomfort in your body. That is your body’s way of letting you know something is off and that you may not jive with this person. This feeling is an invitation from your body… hey, this is not someone you would enjoy spending time with. Notice how this “no, not for you,” feeling felt in your body.
The flip side, is when you meet someone and you feel excited and lit up like you’ve been waiting for them to arrive. Perhaps it’s a lightness in your heart or your stomach. I refer to these “YES” hits as champagne bubbles… it just feels amazing. Notice how your body communicates this with you.
Think of your body as this walking antenna, infinitely aware of the energies around you and always guiding you toward people, things and places that support and nourish your soul.
5. Practice, practice, practice.
The best way to learn a new skill, or polish one that may be a little rusty, is by practicing. The art of repetition, creates new neuropathways in our brain and over time we master this new skill and it becomes a way of life for us.
Being mindful of our thoughts also takes practice. If we begin to notice and witness our thoughts during the day we may start to see patterns of lack or worry and hear the distinct “critter mind” come to the surface of our awareness. When you notice a non-supportive thought, use what I like to call deflection, and replace it with an empowering thought. For years I would think, “I’m so tired”, and guess what? My universe brought me more things to support that thought… my sleep would be interrupted, I wouldn’t nourish my body or rest when I need to.
Here are some Power Thoughts for you to consider…
Oftentimes our ego will get louder just before we breakthrough so do keep that in mind as you continue to reach past your comfort zone and learn to trust your intuition, your inner knowing, more and more.
Thoughts from ego are typically fear-based, angry and mischievous, often leaving you feeling "off", while thoughts from spirit, your awareness, are uplifting, kind and nurturing and these thoughts will feel true for you.
Remember, you always know what is true for you.
